The Ted and Susan Wachtel Award for Vision and Innovation
Description and Criteria
The continued growth and development of restorative practices necessitates a culture of innovation and compelling new visions.
Ted and Susan Wachtel fostered the development of restorative practices for four decades through their work with youth and the founding of the IIRP Graduate School. The Award for Vision and Innovation in their name recognizes practitioners and scholars in the field of restorative practices who:
- Demonstrate new and uniquely compelling vision to develop the field of restorative practices and positively impact civil society.
- Have successfully brought one or more elements of that vision into practice to tangibly benefit the lives of others.
- Model an ethos of participatory collaboration, service and humility in their work.
Any scholar or practitioner worldwide who has made the above contributions to the field of restorative practices.
This award is given biennially. The first award will be presented to the winner at the IIRP World Conference in October 2020.
Candidates must be nominated by a colleague or other person who can speak to the award criteria in detail. Self-nominations are not accepted. The winner will be notified by May 31, 2020.
